Pond is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it from your browser and use it like a native app — in its own window, with its own icon in the dock, taskbar, or home screen.

Why install Pond

  • A focused, single-window experience without browser chrome.
  • Faster launch from the dock, taskbar, or home screen.
  • On supported platforms, “Share to Pond” appears in the system share sheet, letting you send articles and links into your Library from other apps.

Install on desktop

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and other Chromium browsers

  1. Open pond.li and sign in.
  2. Look for the install icon in the address bar (a small monitor or computer with a down arrow).
  3. Click it and choose Install.
Alternatively, from the browser menu, choose Install Pond… or Cast, save, and share → Install page as app.

Safari (macOS 14 Sonoma and later)

  1. Open pond.li and sign in.
  2. From the menu bar, choose File → Add to Dock…
  3. Confirm the name and icon, then click Add.

Install on mobile

iOS / iPadOS (Safari)

  1. Open pond.li in Safari and sign in.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open pond.li in Chrome and sign in.
  2. Tap the menu (⋮) and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.

Updates

Pond updates automatically. When a new version is available, it will load on the next launch.

Local-first desktop app

A native, local-first version of Pond — with local models for embeddings, suggestions, and other intelligent features — is in development. The goal is for your Library, Threads, and associated data to live entirely on your machine, with no dependency on external services for core functionality.
